There are some very striking shocking pink berries in Main Field, and are plenty in BWT hedges. Don't eat them, they are poisonous!
I think they are Euonymus europaeus (the common spindle) but I don't know why the specimen in our garden has far fewer berries than this one!
Spindles are very popular with aphids, so perhaps better in the wild than in a garden. I guess the long straight branches of close-grained wood were used to make the many spindles needed in the days when most women span their own wool, hemp or linen, hence the name.
