On 20th January 2021 Bearsted Parish Council recommended Maidstone Borough Council to approve the plans.
Bearsted Woodland Trust plans to create a new parking area to benefit increasing numbers of visitors, ease the pressure on the Church Lane car park and reduce parking problems on the Ashford Road.
The project has been made possible by the donation of a further piece of land from the co-founders of BWT, Richard and Dena Ashness.
Unlike most parks, BWT has never had its own parking area and the scheme would provide about 30 parking spaces on a grass latticed area adjoining the A20, including disabled spaces.
The current BWT entrance, which also serves Gore Cottage, would be widened to create improved access with the parking area fenced and hedged to match existing boundaries.
The application has been submitted to Maidstone Borough Council and is available to view online.
The planning decision due date is 5th March 2021.
