Following a site walkabout survey on 6 July 2017, BWT Management Committee members noted evidence suggesting cracking and movement of the lower part of the trunk of a crack willow on the approach to the Lilk Bridge. There is no way of predicting when and how it will fall. There are similar trees in this area which may also be displaying signs of cracking.
As a matter of urgency we are contacting tree surgeons and putting in a temporary diversion of the path on safety grounds.
This is also a Public Right of Way along this path so we are informing KCC of our action.
All these actions are in the interests of safety for those who use and enjoy our site.
